Sean Plankey Interview

Identity and access management and data encryption are the keys to running a successful intellectual property protection program at a company today.

Quantum-resistant encryption is a way to secure our data today by using mathematical algorithms that cannot be broken by quantum computers.

Quantum computers, being the next generation of computing, which is anywhere from 2 to 5 years away, can break all forms of known encryption, and so we need to develop solutions through quantum-resistant algorithms that can encrypt data and still keep it protected even when quantum computers are mainstream.

One thing I would like to see companies do more of to protect their intellectual property and valuable data is encrypt it. Encrypted data, even if stolen, does not lose value to the company because adversaries will still have a hard time accessing that data due to the encryption.
